On April 2, 2025, Colonial students wore red clothing for autism awareness month.
What is autism? It’s when someone’s brain works just a little differently. Sometimes autistic people need extra help to get work done or need support when communicating. We wore red to raise awareness of autism and understand people with autism. The more we know about autism the better we can support friends and community members who have autism.
Ellie from 4M, one of the students who wore red on April 2, said, “I liked supporting autism awareness.” Quinn from 5P said, “I wore red because it’s autism awareness month.” Avery from 5S said, “I felt like it was good to support autism and it was an important thing to do.” These are all wonderful perspectives. How can you help raise awareness?
