The Pelham Rec All Stars girls basketball team is picked by the people who do the book and score board in the games. They pick one or two of the best players on each team and the best coaches to create the all star team. The all star team plays other teams from different towns including teams that are 5th and 6th graders. The only three girls from Colonial school are Fiona Sheehy from Colonial Green, Maeve Carley, and Maddie Sachs both from Colonial Red. Pelham All stars coaches are Kate and Arin the Siwony rec coaches. The games are held at the Westchester County Center home to the Westchester Knicks ( a G-league basketball team) where the varsity play-off games were held.
They split the big court into three small courts. So far, the Pelham all star girls won their first game against Rye Brook, who is also an all- 5th grade team. The final score was 14-19. Their next game was, Pelham 5th grade girls played against Irvington who is a 5th-and 6th grade team on 3/18/25 . The final score was 13-5. Next they play the Rye Brook all 6th grade team, and for the final they are going to be on the big court with announcers.
“I had so much fun playing with all the girls!” said Maeve Carley. Emerson McFeetors on the Irvington team and Maddie Sachs on the Pelham team are cousins. This is what Emerson said before the game “I feel excited about the game. I really want to win because the game is against my cousin.” Before the game Maddie Sachs said, “I am feeling nervous and excited. I really want to win. The game is against my cousin. She beat me in soccer so I want to beat her in basketball.” Maeve Carly and Fiona Sheehy are also cousins but they are both on the pelham team. At half time in the game Fiona said, “I am feeling like we can win this! Even if we don’t, our team has so much spirit.”
The Championship game was on Tuesday March 25,2025. Before the game Maddie said, “ I think we can win this. Just take good shots and believe in yourself. I will be sad if we lose but at least we would have come in second place.” At half time Fiona said, “I hope we win! I have hope! We got this!” The game started off with the other team scoring a point 2:0 there was 4 minutes and 45 seconds left on the clock out of 6. Then they scored again a 3 pointer 5:0 was the score then they scored one other point in the first quarter leaving the score 8:0. In the second quarter, 4 minutes and 31 seconds in, Olivia sored Pelham’s first point then they scored two more times in the second quarter. The score was 13 to 2. In the third quarter, the other team scored 3 points the score was 20 to 2 . Then we scored leaving the final score 24-8 Rye Brook 6th.
